My Faith and My DREAM
On May 23 -28 the Lord gave me the honor to attend a one week Mission trip called Destino Trek. Last week was truly one of the best weeks of my life. The Lord first taught me to wait and trust Him in every area of my life. I was very afraid about raising support to attend Destino Trek, but the Lord provided more than enough. The first day when I got to the project I met a great group of staff, people who have a heart to empower students in Christ. I got to serve in many areas at Trek but at the same time I got to learn so much. About 20 students from all over the nation came together in New Braunfels, Texas. I was honored to be part of 2 Worlds which was my Familia at Trek. Together we got to share about our lives and how we can become better servants for both the Lord and our neighbor. On the first day we were challenged both spiritually and physically. We went to high ropes and challenged our fears by jumping from poles that were about 50 feet high. I trusted the ropes because I was tied to them. Similarly, I will trust the Lord because I know that in Him I am secure.
We had the opportunity to go water rafting, one time the boat got stock in the rocks and we had to get off the boat and push it to where the water could take control of the boat. I learned that sometimes in life, I have to get out of my comfort zone and push my life towards God who is in control of everything. I also had the opportunity to share my story with everyone and talked about how immigration, the DREAM Act, is not simply a political issue but rather a moral and Biblical one. The Lord really worked in my life in a tremendous way; unfortunately, while I was playing a game of basketball with my brothers, I toured a few ligaments on my right knee. I know the Lord has a purpose for this happening; therefore all my trust is in Him. I will be attending an orthopedic but like I said, I trust the Lord on this one. Destino Trek really changed my life, I had the opportunity to watch a documentary over the lives of people in Guatemala, as I watched the movie I couldn’t control my tears because while I was watching the screen is as if I was watching my previous life. The Lord reminded me of how powerful He is by rescuing me from a country where violence and pain had taken over my life.

As a group we did community service, we went a cleaned a lake. We pulled out hundreds and hundreds of weeds that are killing the life that is within the lake. I learned that the Lord wants to clean my heart and take away everything that is not allowing the Holy Spirit to truly live in my heal got to hear about what it is to be a true man of God, one who is REAL, a man who Rejects passivity, Expects God’s greater Reward, Accepts RESPONSIBILITY and Leads courageously. I am so thankful for everything in my life, even though I am lying down in a coach holding the pain of a hurt knee, I know that the Lord is faithful and soon I will be jumping of joy. I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who made Destino Trek possible. It truly changed my life for better and it was only possible because of your prayers and your financial support. Finally, be reminded that Strength does not come from winning. Our struggles develop our strengths. When we go through hardships and decide not to surrender then, only then, we experience true strength.
